Another Earwig
If you’ve been paying attention, you know that “earwig” is a term Stephen King uses to describe those songs that you cannot get out of your head. My latest earwig has been a song called “Mr. Sandman” which was recorded about 100 years ago (okay, 67) by a group called the Chordettes. Whenever I get one of these ditties bouncing around in my head, I amuse myself by making up new lyrics. (Click here to hear how I completely ruined “Take Me out to the Ballgame.”)
So here are my new lyrics to this oldest of Oldies; if you’d like to sing along, click here to listen to the original:
Dr. Fauci, bring me vaccine
Make it the strongest dose that you’ve ever seen
Moderna, J & J, or maybe Pfizer
Just load the needle up – don’t be a miser
Tony, I’m so alone
It’s been so many months since I’ve left my home
Oh how I long for indoor dining
I don’t care how bad the food – I won’t be whining
So please, turn on your big machine
Dr. Fauci, bring me vaccine
