You never can tell when inspiration is going to strike. You also never know when inspiration is going to strike out, but that is another – and for me, all too common – story.

So there I am, puttering around in the Residence (which I share with Martin Sheen – but that is yet another story), when the aforementioned inspiration strikes. A few minutes with Google and a few minutes with Photoshop and the inspiration has taken form. In case it’s not obvious enough, it’s the image that graces this page.

I think of it as being kind of a cheap shot, and I’m surprised I didn’t find lots of iterations of this already on the Google. But apparently not. And maybe, for once in my life, I’ve been found guilty of an original thought.

But now what? The image stands alone, and is hardly worthy of the 148 (and counting) words I have squandered already. This little visual sidetrack, which will probably get me in plenty of hot water with both Universal Pictures and TED Conferences LLC for unauthorized use of their intellectual property, is the sort of thing that people post on their Facebook pages or their Twitter feeds or their Instagram whatsises. The problem is, I have been so inactive with social media that my next of kin are getting emails asking if they want to turn my pages into tributes to a life well-lived and cut short all too soon. Which is pretty cheeky of them, since they have no idea how well I live my life for whether its inevitable end will be premature.

So, dear indulgent reader, I am making this image into a post, which means that if you are a subscriber to these occasional blatherings, you will be blessed with the email that will break your entire system and bring it to a premature, if inevitable, end.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
