What’s So Funny?

Joe Biden was elected with the largest number of votes cast in a presidential election in American history. But Donald Trump received the second largest number of votes in a presidential election in American history.

To this day, Trump insists that the election was stolen from him. To this day, an overwhelming majority of Congressional Republicans are Trump fanatics, willing to follow him wherever he leads.

To this day, a significant proportion of the American public thinks the same way.

This website was started in the months leading up to the presidential election in November 2020 as a way for me to let off steam and put the entire political mess into perspective– by trying to find humor wherever I can.

It’s not funny any more.

Americans suffer from “Trump amnesia.” We’ve forgotten how bad things were under Trump … how he tried to steal the election … how close we came to anarchy in the waning days of his reign. And how his supporters are willing to overlook his cons, his illegal, immoral activities both personal and professional (although the words “Trump” and “professional” should never appear in the same sentence).

All along we thought we were facing a Hobson’s choice: a reprehensible barely-human being or a well-intentioned feeble senior citizen. But in the end, Joe did the right thing and stepped aside, clearing the way for a whip-smart, politically-savvy California liberal who can lead us adeptly into the future.

Now it’s a party.

But the original thrust of this website – laughter and derision – won’t save us this time. Learn the facts and share them liberally. Do something – give money, volunteer time, debate your family. You may end up broke, tired, and disowned; but at least you’ll be all those things in a democracy.
